Calgary Community Hoarding Coalition is sponsoring an event open to the public on hoarding disorder featuring a pioneer and expert in the field, Dr. Randy Frost from Massachusetts, USA. This presentation is for anyone who struggels with hoarding, concerned family and friends, and members of the general public who would like to learn more about this serious issue.

Alberta In-Patient Addiction Treatment Centres Symposium
Targeted at healthcare professionals interested in learning more about providing care to patients with alcohol, tobacco, and opioid substance use disorders. The course is also open for anyone wishing to improve their knowledge of substance use and addiction.
  • Goals of Symposium
  • • To bring all treatment centre professionals and detox centre professionals together to discuss the continuum of care across Alberta
  • • To highlight successes as well as motivation and vision in addiction treatment across the province
  • • Discuss importance re: Quality of Care and Standardization of Evidence Based Approaches
  • • Bring awareness regarding the various clinical frameworks for specialized populations (i.e., Indigenous populations, Gender diverse populations, Family-Centred needs, youth, etc.)
  • • Build key connections among service providers, including identification of resources, to build service capacity to more effectively address the Opioid Crisis
  • • Develop regulations and standards that protect the health of Albertans seeking addiction services
  • • Each centre will have an opportunity to showcase their programs (through TED-talk style presentations and booth promotional presentations)

Online Addiction Medicine Diploma
Targeted at healthcare professionals interested in learning more about providing care to patients with alcohol, tobacco, and opioid substance use disorders. The course is also open for anyone wishing to improve their knowledge of substance use and addiction.

Certified Tobacco Educator
The AlbertaQuits Learning Series provides health professionals with the awareness, knowledge and skill set needed to assess and implement tobacco intervention effectively in a variety of health care settings. Research shows that receiving support and advice from a health professional specially trained in tobacco cessation can double a tobacco user’s chances of successfully quitting.

Trauma Informed Care Series
This series supports those looking to improve their knowledge and skills in the use of Trauma Informed Care, and is divided into 5 modules:

PCCLS: Foundations (Provincial Concurrent Capable Learning Series)
Offered via AHS, this is a free, beginner to introductory level series comprised of 15 presentations to help Addiction and Mental Health professionals increase their understanding, confidence, and capability when working with clients with addiction, mental health concerns, or concurrent disorders. New users will be required to sign up for an account.

Concurrent Disorders (CD) Learning Series
The Concurrent Disorder Learning Comprehensive Inventory of academic videos from provincial, national, and international subject matter/clinical experts. The series is designed to support the clinical development of AMH’s diverse workforce in responding to the needs of individuals experiencing concurrent disorders. Each academic video within the playlist is considered a Section 2 – Self-Learning Scanning Activity. Learners can claim 0.5 CME study credits per each video viewed.

Complex Needs Initiative Learning Series
Provides skills for front line service provider staff to deliver excellent services for individuals with complex needs. Most sessions will be delivered in either Edmonton or Calgary and is available via videoconference – all session descriptions & registration details will be posted on the Complex Needs Website. Brain Story Certificate
Brain Story Certification course is approximately 30 hours, designed to develop your understanding of the science of early experiences and their impact on brain development and lifelong physical and mental health, including addiction.
